Strictly my thoughts......

Everyone on Facebook is posting about the election and why Obama should or shouldn't get re-elected. All this talk has gotten me thinking - I have NO idea how I feel about it! And that scares me a little. I should care about who the President of our country is and how our country is being run. But honestly right now I don't have the energy to care about who our President is. Does that make me a horrible person? I don't think it does, I feel as long as I make educated decisions and pay my taxes that I'm not doing so bad. So I'm not going to beat myself up for not getting into politics, I already beat myself up for far more important things, like not doing laundry or actually making a complete meal for my family more than once a week.
Then there are the issues; gay marriage, guns, taxes, etc. etc.  Where do I stand on these issues? Here's a breakdown:

Gay Marriage: I firmly believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, BUT, I also  believe that people should have equal rights and I feel this falls into equal rights. Maybe that is answering the question without actually giving an answer, but that is all I feel like saying right now.

Guns: I've never shot one, I've never owned one, so maybe I just don't get the appeal, but why does one person need more than 1 gun? And I think every gun owner should undergo a psych evaluation, just my opinion.....

Taxes: I don't understand them at all, but I'm pretty sure things are not working the way they should, given the debt our country is in.

I can respect just about anyone's opinion... political or otherwise. It's when they start getting in my face saying I need to think their way that I start getting a little pissy. I avoid the political discussions on FB by not being there... don't answer my phone if I don't know who's calling, recycle the campaign flyers and will just do the best I can to vote with my brain.

I grew up in a household where guns were used for hunting. My father hunted, we ate the things he hunted, and did not waste them or make trophies out of them. Guns don't frighten me nearly as much as the crazy a-holes out there running around... with or without a firearm. :)

As for gay marriage? I am for civil unions for everyone who wants to have one, and then if people want to have a marriage, let them have their church thing.

Gay people are no threat to me or mine, there are people in my family who love a person of the same sex and I can't understand what all the fuss is about. They pay taxes, they raise families, they love, they grocery shop, they mow the lawn.

But taxes? We are being taxed to death and to quote Dr Seuss...
"this mess is so big and so deep and so tall we can NOT pick it up... there is no way at all."

I agree with Ami, everyone is entitled to an opinion. It's when they throw it in your face and believe there is no other option, that it gets insane.

I too firmly believe marriage should be a man and a woman. However, I do believe ALL people should be treated with respect. Just because someone loves someone else of the same sex, doesn't make their love meaningful.

Wow. Can I edit my comment?!?! The last line should say "doesn't make their love LESS meaningful".

Yikes! Huge mistake, so sorry!!
