Okay sometimes you just have to let them win, its not worth the fight...

Easter, I'm giving up on the idea of the Easter Bunny, it is NOT what Easter is about..... SO my children will not have baskets or go hunting for eggs filled with candy (at our house) we will go to grandma's and let them hunt for candy eggs at her house.  I hate commercialized holidays so I don't know why I was fighting so hard for the stupid bunny in the first place.....  I guess I was hoping to give them the same memories that I have of Easter, but this way we will teach them of our Redeemer and Savior Jesus Christ and his resurrection, and they will learn in their early years what I have just learned a few years ago.  Besides the Easters of my childhood would be really hard to re-create, my entire extended family would gather at my great-grandparents house and we would have dutch oven chicken and my great-grandma would make plastic eggs for everyone with their names on it and she would always hide them in their backyard, in the eggs she would put a few jelly beans and a dollar.  All the cousins would come and we would just have SO much fun together, it usually ended up with most of us heading to 7-11 to get a treat with our dollar.  I remember one year it had been raining all week and I got a new pair of pink jelly shoes and wore them out to my grandparents and some of us were in the front yard playing and the water was really high and fast in the gutter and I decided to try to float my shoes and catch them before it was too late, well they sure did float and fast and I lost my jelly shoes, it was a sad day......
I'm also happy that it is General Conference this weekend, it seems very fitting to be listening to our prophet on the weekend that we celebrate Jesus' resurrection......

Great idea, sometimes we need to take a step back and decide what we feel forced to do and what we want to do with our kids.

I was able to go to the Sunday 2:00 session, it was really cool!'

I'm sad over the lost jelly shoes . . . I'm with you on the Easter thing, I just haven't figured it out yet. I want the bunny to come on Saturday and have some other spiritual Sunday tradition, but every year it's been nuts. You're awesome.
